Day 7 - 27 Feb
We allowed ourselves a ‘sleep-in’ and opted for the complimentary shuttle from the lodge back up the road to the start of today’s walk - at 8:30 am (rather than 7:30!). This gave us a more leisurely start.
We did stretches to try and iron out some of the soreness and stiffness from yesterday’s tramp and ate our cold ‘hot’ porridge that had sadly frozen in the upper reaches of the fridge - which made for interesting eating and slowed things down somewhat…
We reached the top of the ridge at 9:30 am: it was 2.65 kms of climbing all the way (to 417 m) and a bit steep in places. It got warm pretty quickly too so we peeled off our outer tops half way up. The views of course delightful all the way.
We could see Lochmara Bay as we descended and after 5 kms we detoured left to continue around the perimeter of the bay - to our Lochmara Lodge: beautiful tree ferns and a very pretty and shady walk; hot today so it was great to swing off from the main ridge.
It was 9.5 kms in total today - we were in by 11:30 am. No bags yet as they will come on the boat this afternoon but our room is ready and we are enjoying the view and relaxing with our cut lunch and a cup of tea!
We spent the rest of the day snoozing plus My Friend (MF) went for a paddle and I did a 20 minute walk around the property before joining in Happy Hour before dinner. We are looking out over the bay with a pleasant breeze to keep us cool.
Strava says we climbed 338 m today over 9.5 kms.
